SEASONAL ROOF TOP TIPS

1, Be extremely cautious when someone offers to spray your roof , with their SPECIAL Treatment to extend the life of your shingles , Your WARRANTY may be voided, Call IKO , GAF, OWENS CORNING or BP  the will give you the honest answer. 

[2] Your existing Fibreglass shingles have life expectancy of Approximately 25-30 yrs , if they are not organic shingles,  they will last their expected LIFE EXPECTANCY ALL BY THEMSELVES,  Except if you had  poor workmanship, snow or other damage .

[3] If some one says YOU NEED A NEW ROOF, BE CAUTIOUS,  Listen to their info,  get a written estimate or statement.  Talk to your family & friends & get A 2ND  or 3RD OPINION, every estimate you get, you & your  family learn, ALSO READ  number 2 again

[4] IF INSULATION People are going to INCREASE your INSULATION, Make sure you. HAVE the proper EAVE AIR FLOW, Eave vents, (MOR) VENTS, Insulation to the edge of the ceiling,  & the proper DEPTH. REQUEST PICTURES before & AFTER , BEFORE FINAL PAYMENT is PAID, THIS is on everything, you do on YOUR property & Your HOUSE to ensure the full value of your investment.

[5] Take Pictures of all sides of your roof on a FROSTY MORNING, this allows you to identify the ice problem concerns,with BARE SPOTS  that you discover,  show them to a professional you trust,  they will be able to help

[6] If SNOW BLOWS in from your ROOF VENTS , Lay a  large PLASTIC bag  under the vent , on top of the insulation , if it is just a small amount (3 to 4 handfuls) it will evaporate by June 1 st

[7 ]If you need SNOW REMOVED from your ROOF, Make sure they prove they have WSIB & LIABILITY INSURANCE, they can prove this if you tell them this before they come on site ( very easy to prove if they have it ??

[8] Ask them to leave 6 to 8 inches of snow on the roof, MAKE sure they clean out EXHAUST PIPES,  ENTRANCES & EXITS, WINDOWS , BEFORE making FINAL PAYMENT  , iT cost nothing to take PICTURES before & AFTER?
